DYING TO BE MURDERED

Judy Fitzwater's Summer Reading List

PUBLISH AND PERISH
by Sally Wright
This is the first in my friend Sally's smart academic mystery series set in the 1960s. It's been in my to-be-read pile for a while and promises to be quite a treat. Her latest, PURSUIT AND PERSUASION, was nominated this year for an Edgar.

KILLING KIN
by Chassie West
Chassie's a delight. Her writing credentials stretch all the way back to THE NANCY DREW FILES. Since I live in the D.C. area, I'm especially looking forward to reading about Washington cop Leigh Ann Warren. This, too, was nominated for an Edgar.

THE HEARSE YOU CAME IN ON
by Tim Cockey
I hear Mr. Cockey's undertaker sleuth Hitchcock Sewell is terrifically funny.

IN THE MIDNIGHT HOUR
by Michelle Spring
Michelle writes wonderful atmospheric English mysteries. This one's her latest Laura Principal and has to do with the disappearance of a young boy years ago and a street musician who may or may not be that boy grown up.

A HISTORY OF GOD: The 4000-Year Quest of Judaism, Christianity and Islam
by Karen Armstrong
Not exactly beach reading, but this book traces the concept of God through Judaism, Christianity and Islam. It looks as though it'll be quite intriguing.
