IN FIDELITY: A Novel
"A suspenseful tale of murder, madness and forgiveness....
An entertaining... exciting read." -Publishers Weekly
M.J. Rose's Summer Reading List
THE MUSIC LESSON
by Katharine Weber
I read her first novel, OBJECTS IN THE MIRROR ARE
CLOSER THAN THEY APPEAR, and loved it. I've heard
her second is slim and taut and tight --- a real gem.
BOY STILL MISSING
by
John Searles
I heard John read from his debut novel at the Virginia Festival of
the Book and was totally engaged by his voice and drawn in by the passage I heard.
COMING BACK TO ME
by Caroline Leavitt
I interviewed Caroline for an article I wrote for
Poets and Writer's Magazine, and we talked
about her new novel enough for me to know it's a must
read. This is one I've already started --- but won't
get to finish until my summer break. Can't wait.
IN THE COMPANY OF ANGELS
by N.M. Kelby
The jacket of this novel got me even before I knew anything about
it. And the review
on Bookreporter.com convinced me. It sounds like poetry.
THE LAST GREAT DANCE ON EARTH
by Sandra Gulland
This is the third volume in the trilogy about Josephine
and Napolean. I've read the first two --- devoured
them actually --- and can't wait to read the third.
FIELD GUIDE
by Gwendolen Gross
I heard about this book and this new author over at Readerville.com and had to get the book.
It's about a world I'm not familiar with at all --- which is intriguing in itself --- and the
writing has been getting high marks from everyone.
NAOMI
by Douglas Clegg
Clegg is a Bram Stoker Award winner. Now horror isn't
my usual fare, but Clegg writes so well that I'm willing
to be frightened. He writes what I call "literary
scare."
AFTERIMAGE
by Helen Humphreys
This is a fictional story but was inspired by the Victorian photography of Julia Margaret
Cameron --- whose work I love. So this book is a must for me.
THE STAIRCASE OF A THOUSAND STEPS
by Masha Hamilton
This novel just sounds so intriguing --- other worldy and
spiritual --- and the advance word is that Hamilton has a wonderful voice.
Read a review of
IN FIDELITY, a review of
LIP SERVICE, and an
