6. AOTW: When a woman hears those dreaded words, "you have breast cancer," what would you want her to know?

Laney Katz Becker: It does not mean you're going to die. It doesn't even mean you're going to lose your breast. It also doesn't necessarily mean you'll need chemo. There are different types of breast cancers, different types of treatment and there are OPTIONS. Take the time to get the necessary information to make good decisions and discuss them with your doctor.

Barbara Delinsky: She is not alone. There are millions of women out there who have been where she is and gotten through. There are books like Uplift, in essence a support group in handbook form, that can reinforce this idea, as well as offer all sorts of practical suggestions for the nonmedical fallout of a breast cancer diagnosis.

Dr. Jane Plant: That it is not an automatic death sentence and there is much she can do to help herself.

Jennie Nash: That women are strong and resilient and resourceful. That women survive.
