AOTW: What one cookbook do you recommend to others?
Smita Chandra: Jeffrey Alford and Naomi Duguid's latest cookbook Hot, Sour, Sweet, Salty is a great read as well as a great book to cook from.
Stan Frankenthaler: like Hiroko Shimbo's Japanese Kitchen. A great book filled with helpful knowledge and delicious foods.
Victoria Granof: The Joy of Cooking. Old habits die hard!
Kathy Gunst: I recommend both The Joy of Cooking and Julia Child's Mastering the Art.
Elinor Klivans: The old version of The Joy of Cooking.
David Lebovitz: My favorite is Chez Panisse Desserts by Lindsey Shere, which has a lot of great recipes and is easy to follow. How To Bake by Nick Malgieri and The Perfect Art of Simple Baking by Flo Braker are two great cookbook investments.
Sheila Lukins: Bistro Cooking by Patricia Wells or The Store Cookbook by Bert Greene.
Steven Raichlen: Besides my own, probably the old Joy of Cooking.
Joanne Weir: I love several, but if I had to narrow it down it would probably be one of Alice Water's cookbooks. I worked at Chez Panisse for years and that is the style of food I prefer, so if you are making me chose one it would probably be Chez Panisse Cafe Cookbook.
