11. AOTW: What are you working on now?

Lauren Bach: I'm juggling two proposals. Both are contemporary romantic suspense, and I'm in love with both premises. If I don't hit a place soon where one grows more interesting than the other, I'll send both to my agent and let her decide which one goes first. And while I'm waiting on that, I'll start a third. You know the old saying...so many romances, so little time.

Amanda Scott: I'm working on The Secret Clan: Highland Bride, the third book in a series for Warner Books. The first one, The Secret Clan: Abducted Heiress just came out in November. Its sequel, The Secret Clan: Hidden Heiress, will be out in August. The books take place in 16th century Scotland, in the Highlands but with connections to the Scottish Borders. The Secret Clan is the little people, so there is a fantasy element, but the stories are about Gordons, Mackenzies, MacRaes, and other Highland and Border clans. Hidden Heiress, the one coming in August, explains what would have happened if Cinderella had lived in 16th century Scotland.

Sharon Robinson: I’m completing a biography for children and a romance book that take place in St. Croix, US VI.

Nora Roberts: I'm currently working on the third book of a new paperback trilogy that will be published in the fall of '03. The books deal with three women who meet when they're asked to take on a quest that involves stolen souls and Celtic gods.

Susan Wiggs: A contemporary novel called Acts of Light, about the lives and loves of two sisters in Texas who face a crisis over the daughter one of them gave birth to, but the other one raised. Also, I have a historical romance coming out in September 2002 entitled Enchanted Afternoon.

Madeline Hunter: I am currently writing a trilogy set in the first half of the nineteenth century.

Kat Martin: Currently, I'm working on the sequel to The Fire Inside, which is just out. The book is called Fanning the Flames and it's scheduled for release in August. In May of this year, my next contemporary will be out, Hot Rain - one of my personal favorites.

Betina Krahn: So glad you asked!  wo historical follow-on books to The Husband Test... more from the beloved Convent of the Brides of Virtue. And a hot, fast-paced contemporary that is more like a romantic action-adventure... with a techno twist. It's Romancing the Stone meets X-files.

Glenna McReynolds: A book called Tender Sins about Quinn Younger, an underage, bad-boy car thief who grew up to be a bona fide all American hero, a beast of a 1969 Camaro named Jeanette, and a overly prudent woman who comes undone, Regan McKinney, when she ends up trapped with both these wild things one crazy, hot summer night.

Elizabeth Thornton: A story about a young woman who has hit rock bottom and must overcome many obstacles, not least someone who is trying to kill the man she loves, before she reaches her full potential.

Donna Kauffman: My current wip is titled THe Last Bridesmaid and is a fully contemporary romance (no "woo woo" elements in this one!) set in San Francisco.  Tanzy Harrington is a popular Internet columnist and frequent talk show guest who dishes out her relationship advice in an uncompromising, in-your-face style that has earned her many admirers. Not all of them safe. She has a theory about why she's the last one of her social circle to remain single. It all revolves around why she should settle for the "marrying kind" sheeps of the world...when there's so many great "your daddy warned you about me" wolves out there yet to play with. Riley Parrish is the security expert secretly hired by her eccentric great aunt to keep her safe...the proverbial wolf in sheep's clothing who enjoys shaking Tanzy's theory - and the rest of her life! - up a bit.  Bridesmaid is a fast-paced, blatantly sexy, in-your-face romp...with a taste of suspense to up the intensity.

Jacquie D'Alessandro: A Regency-era historical entitled Whirlwind Affair, which is a sequel to Whirlwind Wedding. I'm also working on some promo stuff for my next release, The Bride Thief, which is coming out in March-doing postcards, bookmarks, etc.

Shana Abe: Right now I'm working on my seventh book for Bantam. The format is going to be a bit of risk, which I find very exciting. I pitched an idea for a trilogy, but my editor proposed instead that I write the three stories, make them slightly shorter than my usual 400 pagers, and all three will be published in one volume. So I'm writing three separate paranormal romances, each linked by the continuation of a legend. The time periods are all new to me, too. The first is set just after the Romans abandoned what we call Great Britain; the second is eighteenth century Scotland; and the third is contemporary, taking place in both the U.S. and Scotland.

It's a huge project, and I'm very happy with the way it's going. I almost feel like someone else is doing it--I can't wait to see how it all turns out.

Sherri Browning: I am working on a mystery with a coauthor friend, starting to plot my next contemporary romance, and putting the finishing touches on my third historical romance, set in Regency England and Scotland.

Sue-Ellen Welfonder: The book I am going to devote to the readers on my mailing list. It is Bride of the Beast and tells the tale of Sir Marmaduke who was the hero's best friend in my debut book, DEVIL IN A KILT. I had not planned on writing Sir M's story, but so many readers wrote saying they loved this character and wanted him to have his own happy ending, that Warner Books asked me to give him one. I don't think I received a single reader letter that didn't mention this character. That readers loved him so much is gratifying Beyond words and I am so pleased my editor gave me the chance to write his book.

Brenda Joyce: I'm not. I wrote four books in 2001: The Chase, Deadly Pleasure, Deadly Affairs and Deadly Desire. I am on vacation! Yeah!!!
