Romance Author Roundtable

12.
AOTW: What are you working on now?
Shirlee Busbee: I'm finishing up with my second contemporary, Coming Home. It picks up the story of Jeb Delaney and Roxanne Ballinger who were first introduced in Return to Oak Valley. Warner Books will publish it in September 2003.
Gaelen Foley: Right now, I am working on the next installment of my Knight family series, about an aristocratic family in Regency England. There are five brothers, a sister, and her best friend, and each of these is getting his/her own book. So far, I've written four of the stories (The Duke, Lord of Fire, Lord of Ice, Lady of Desire) so I have several more to go, which is great, because they're *really* fun to write!
Judith McNaught: I just finished Someone to Watch Over Me a few weeks ago, after working 140 hours a week for months. For the time being, I'm going to luxuriate in my freedom and take care of all the things I've had to ignore and neglect for months --- including some treasured friendships.
Kerrelyn Sparks: I'm working on sequels now --- the third and last book in my American Revolution series, which began with For Love or Country. And I'm working on a second book in a western series that begins with Night of the Silver Dollar Moon. I also have a few paranormals that I'm considering writing. Thank you for asking me to participate! Happy reading to all.
Barbara Samuel: I've just finished my third book for Ballantine --- currently untitled --- about four women at different stages in their marriages. A widow, a young woman with small children, and two women in the full heart of falling in love --- one with her husband, one getting over an ex she loved a lot.
Jo Beverley: I recently sent in a book in my Georgian series about the Malloren family, but this one is about another branch of the family. It will be out next Christmas. Now I'm working on a story that spins off from there. Of course right now I have a new book out. It's a regency historical called St. Raven, with a dashing rakish hero and a determined heroine in search of an erotic statue at an orgy. All in a day's work!
Julia Quinn: My next novel is called To Sir Phillip, With Love, and it is the fifth installment in my series about the Bridgerton siblings. I'm currently working on the outline of the book to follow that.
Carly Phillips: My new hardcover series for Warner. Two books about twin sisters. My working titles (that I hope to keep) are Jersey Girl and Manhattan Woman, but time will tell. I'm loving the first story so far!
Leslie Carroll: I've just completed the revisions on Temporary Insanity and am at work on a couple of different manuscripts. One is chick lit and the other is more mainstream women's fiction. I've got several irons in the fire.
Rachel Gibson: I am currently working on a book set in a small town in Texas.
Teresa Medeiros: I'm in that blissful state known as Between Books. One Night of Scandal, my first Avon book, will be out in August. I actually plan to start my new book ... as soon as I finish this interview!
Mary Lynn Baxter: A new Mira titled Without You.
Christina Skye: A fast-paced story mixing humor, adventure and suspense with not one but two sets of amazing characters. Yes, there's another SEAL hero, someone with secrets. Oh, yes there's also an out-of-control ferret. Clearly, I'm having lots of fun.
Candace Camp: I am madly trying to finish a book set in Victorian England which has to do with the Victorian craze for spiritualists, mediums, and seances. The hero and heroine start out trying to disprove the ghostly "doings" of a phony medium and find themselves somehow involved with an ill-fated couple from centuries past. Because of an illness in December (I'm fine now) I'm very much behind, but fortunately the writing is going well, and I should have it finished in a couple of weeks.
Brenda Novak: I'm writing books for one of the Harlequin lines --- the Superromance line --- as well as contemporary single titles. Doing both is a great fit. The Supers are the longest and most mainstream of the Harlequin lines, but the single titles are even bigger. I have a book coming out February 1st titled Taking the Heat (a contemporary single title). Shortly afterwards, in May, I have a Superromance coming out titled A Husband of her Own, which is the second in a series that started last September with A Baby of her Own. All of my books are featured on my website at www.brendanovak.com, where I'm sponsoring a drawing for a Weekend Gems Package to Europe. Drawing held March 1, 2003. Details posted.
Dorothy Garlock: I'm working on the second book set along Route 66 in 1933. Hope's Highway should be out in HC this time next year and paper shortly after. The first book of the series, Mother Road will be out in June.
