Bio
Janet Evanovich is a native of South River, New Jersey (just outside of Trenton) and a graduate of Douglas College of New Jersey.
She is the bestselling author of twelve romance novels, the first published in 1987 for the Second Chance at Love Line, the last in 1992 for Loveswept. As a romance writer, she won the Romance Writer's Golden Leaf Award and was nominated for the Rita.
In 1993, having exhausted her knowledge of conjugal acts, Evanovich made a lateral move from the romance genre, creating a series using Trenton, New Jersey as a background for the exploits of Stephanie Plum, bounty hunter. The first in the series, ONE FOR THE MONEY, was named a New York Times "Notable Book," a Publishers Weekly Best Book of 1994, and a USA Today "Best Bet." Winner of England's prestigious John Creasy Award and the Dilys Award, presented by Independent Mystery Booksellers Association as the book "most fun to sell," it was a finalist for Edgar, Anthony, Agatha, Shamus, and Macavity awards. ONE FOR THE MONEY has also been optioned by Tri-Star Motion Pictures and is now in preproduction.
TWO FOR THE DOUGH, THREE TO GET DEADLY, FOUR TO SCORE, HIGH FIVE, HOT SIX, SEVEN UP and now HARD EIGHT have followed in the first book's bestselling success.
Evanovich is currently living in New Hampshire with her husband, dog, and two birds. She has two adult children, Peter and Alexandra.
