The Disappearance of Jenna Drago
James Callahan, now retired from the Boston police force, has no trouble setting aside his new career as an artist when an old college friend calls for help to find his missing teenage daughter. Reliving the agony he experienced a year ago when his own daughter, Mandy, was kidnapped, Callahan quickly discovers the quiet little town of Northview is a hotbed of secrets. After finding himself falsely accused of a crime and following clues that lead to a haunted house and a witch's circle, Callahan and his trusted friend, B.J., uncover a murder and other mysterious events before their investigation finally draws to a stunning conclusion.
Al Blanchard's Summer Reading List
The Killing of the Tinkers
by Ken Bruen
I read Bruen's first Jack Taylor novel and enjoyed his gritty realism and edgy style of writing. He's a writer who instantly jumped on my must read list.
Right as Rain
by George P. Pelecanos
Pelecanos, in my opinion, is the best crime writer out there. Soul Circus blew me away so I'm reaching back to read one of his earlier books.
The Surgeon
by Tess Gerritsen
Gerritsen has the ability to write beautifully at the same time that she scares you silly. I'm going to keep the lights on when I read this.
Without Fail
by Lee Child
Jack Reacher is such an original character and Child writes such well-plotted white knuckle thrillers that his books are a joy to read. His series gets better with each book.
Four to Score
by Janet Evanovich
When I'm looking for humor in a mystery I turn to Evanovich. Bounty hunter Stephanie Plum is laugh out loud funny. I like to read a series in order which is why I'm jumping back to number four.
