May 2002
Dear Reader:

Survey-- Need Your Input!
The Book Report Network is preparing to launch a new website called AuthorYellowPages.com this fall. This will be a directory of author websites that will be searchable by author name and genre. We're asking your feedback about your experiences with finding author websites --- and why you seek them out --- in this survey. Your answers will help us shape the programming so we are eager to hear from you. For all of you who already replied, many thanks!
May Author of Month: Rick Moody
Rick Moody has been consistently acclaimed for his literary novels and short stories. Dealing with such topics as personal and family relationships, sexuality, mortality, and adolescence, Moody writes unabashedly about human nature. Moody's latest book, The Black Veil, is an intense, personal look at the man himself. His fiction includes Demonology, Purple America, The Ring of Brightest Angels Around Heaven, The Ice Storm, and Garden State.
Authors on the Web honors Rick Moody this month by providing "fast facts," trivia questions and biographical information on his life and books.
Coming in June --- our Author of the Month will be Janet Evanovich
Poet Roundtables
AuthorsOnTheWeb brought together 16 poets to discover why poetic expression is so appealing to them and how they would respond to those who find poetry more than a little intimidating. The participants in the Poetry Roundtable included Mary Jo Bang, Billy Collins, Cornelius Eady, Jeffrey Greene, Richard Matthews, Honor Moore, Marge Piercy and Marc Woodworth who write for adult audiences as well as Betsy Franco, Robin Hirsch, Mary Ann Hoberman, Paul B. Janeczko, Alan Katz, X. J. Kennedy, Marilyn Singer and Sonya Sones who write poems for children and teens.

Set in the Persian Jewish quarter, Harem follows the lives of three generations of women. Mossanen's website offers an excerpt of the book, a FAQ, and a book tour schedule.
CarolineSlate.com --- Publishers Weekly called the characters in Caroline Slate's The House on Sprucewood Lane "so rounded you can hear their ragged breathing." Check out Slate's website to read an excerpt of the author's latest psychological thriller.
